Exodians are any species whose ancestors participated in the exodus from our homeworld of Blimnor.
During the Modern Age of Blimnor, an increasingly global culture was hindered by one great biological roadblock: the inability for the many Blimnorian races to have mixed-race children. To address this demand, geneticists found a way to alter human DNA to become compatible with Gnomes, Orcs, Dwarves, Elves, Halflings, and Goblins. The generations of half-humans that followed were capable of having children with other half-humans, and so by the time of the Exodus, most Blimnorians had ancestry from all races.
An unintended consequence of this evolutionary convergence was the gradual extinction of all purebred Blimnorians, as well as those the genetic treatment could not make compatible. It is believed that some lived long enough to board the colony ships that escaped Blimnor, but died of old age in the century-long journey.
Today, even though Exodians can hardly differentiate each other by their ancient ancestry, some nevertheless feel pride in the genetic traits that mark their ancestry. In fact, many Exodians form strong social connections with those who share these traits. Geneticists speculate that some day this trend may one day result in distinct racial groups.

While the history of space travel forced societies to become more diverse, language homogenized, boiling down to a few common tongues. Still, rare or ancient languages have their handful of experts keeping careful records of our shared past.
