The Slaegtaf System was primarily used for wartime manufacturing during the War for Private Space. The ice world of Slaegtaf 1 and the rocky world of Slaegtaf 3 and its moon were all used in the accelerated production of war supplies. The system's proximity to the Exodian Sector meant that it was frequently attacked by SCO fleets.

The frigid temperature and toxic atmosphere made it too difficult to support exodian life. Additionally, the long-necked and slow-moving predators that wander the glacial river beds force any settlements to isolate themselves to scattered plateaus, sharing the safe-space with other large animals that either eat the moisture-conserving plants, or each other.
A number of corporations have taken over plateaus and built large factories where the dry air and cold temperature are ideal for smooth-running machinery and electronics.
