The Shalug star is a blue supergiant whose solar radiation has flooded a majority of its system. Littering this zone are fields of derelict fleets too courageous or unlucky to get caught. Beyond the radiation orbits Nikkibria, a world of rivers and wetlands, allegedly home to hermits. Otherwise, the system is valued for being open and deserted, and the orbital research station and moon are used to test weapons for the GAM. The system was named for the original tribe to settle on the swampy shallows of Nikkibria. However, since the more technologically-advance allied tribes of Chouka and Ratta drove the Shalug tribe deep into the polar mires, the only thing remaining of them was the name.

Nikkibria is a water world with a layer of dense aquatic foliage near the liquid's surface. This floating plant life has the appearance of scattered archipelagos, but in fact is merely buoyant biomass. Frequent tidal forces cause water to flood these islands before they float to the surface. The planet was first colonized by members of the Shalug tribe, for which the system was named. Those early colonists took a nomadic lifestyle, mostly fishing and navigating the shallow floating marshes of the planet. However, when the Chouka and Ratta tribes invaded the planet to develop infrastructure for weapons-development, the Shalug were forced away from the more habitable regions of the planet, and have kept to themselves ever since. One notable member of the tribe is known on the Exodianet as Nana m'Shalug, who is a popular shaman who offers online xenoastrology readings, totem-carving courses, and is a firm believer in the existence of magic. Where exactly she broadcasts her show from is a mystery, as there are no suitable locations to build large or even permanent structures.
