Corvettes, usually no longer than 150 meters, are normally the largest craft capable of landing on a planet’s surface. They are normally crewed by up to 50 people, however can easily operate with a smaller contingent of 10. They are also Zipp Drive capable, have hardpoints for military-grade weapons platforms, and contain hold space for cargo, passengers, or even smaller craft such as a fighter, pod, or surface vehicle. This balance between speed, independence, and armament gives the corvette a wide mission profile, and makes them ideal as patrol ships, caravan escorts, picket ships, or small attack craft.
Yacht variants are lightly-armed corvettes converted to personal or commercial use, often furnished with recreational facilities and smaller novelty craft. Owning a yacht is a sign of prestige for a private citizen, although what constitutes recreation is different depending on the owner.
Scout variants sacrifice armament for speed, sensor equipment, and survey vehicles. These scouts are excellent vessels for hastily exploring surface environments, or scanning for spaceborn objects, before reporting to its fleet or headquarters.
