When the Jotun-class frigate was first launched, it was the largest spacecraft from Golbersson Starforge.
While it has since been literally dwarfed by other Golbersson warships today, it still stands as one of the most reliable capital ships on the market.
Its heavy armor and redundancy systems coupled with more weapon hardpoints than other ships of its rating make it a formidable opponent, even against much larger craft.
In addition to its durability, the Jotun also houses modular holds in its aft frame, allowing it to be easily reconfigured for carrier duty, bulk cargo hauling, and vehicle transport.

The aft cargo hold of the Jotun is detachable, and with a 50m wide bay is ideal for the transportation of installations such as mining rigs. Since the Jotun is incapable of atmospheric entry, it cannot fully deploy surface installations, relying on heavy lifters to deliver its payload to the surface.
Part of the Jotun's lasting appeal as a capital ship is its intuitive and utilitarian deck layout. It's relatively rectangular frame allows for decks that run the full width and length. The shape also allows these decks to be layered uniformly. Altogether, the Jotun boasts the most interior volume for any craft of its size even though it is one of the most heavily armored as well. Command decks are buried in the midship, while operations and sensor facilities are housed in the armored mandibles at the bow. Engineering decks sit in the engine mounts. Much of the remaining deck space is dedicated to crew accommodations, but the sheer volume of available space can give the ship the capacity for troop transportation, VIP cabins, or science and workshops.
